What to expect
Visiting the Knossos Palace in combination with the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is a complete experience. The Knossos Palace is the second most visited archaeological site after the Acropolis in Athens. On the other hand, the Archaeological Museum presents an impressive collection of objects from the Minoan culture that you should not miss.
Itinerary
8.30 -10.30
We start in the morning to see the Palace with fewer people. It is a huge archaeological site of 1.300 rooms full of frescoes and objects of daily life at the time. It was discovered in 1878 but excavations began between 1900-1931. We will stay at the archaeological site for 2 hours.
11.00-12.00
Next stop is the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, one of Greece’s most significant museums. It houses artifacts from the Minoan civilization, including frescoes, pottery, and the famous Phaistos Disc.
12.30 -14.00
Free time to see the city center of Heraklion, walk through the old market and admire the Morozini fountain. This iconic fountain is a popular meeting point surrounded by cafés and shops.
