Overview
Matala is the small fishing village that was discovered by the hippies in the 1960s and gained fame at the ends of the earth. The cool waters of Mesara bay are surrounded by white sandstone rocks and mysterious caves. Before visiting Matala, we will stop at the Odigitria monastery in the western end of the Asterousia Mountains. Peaceful spot with lovely views of the surrounding valley and mountains.
What to expect
Swim in the deep blue waters and feel the relaxed atmosphere of the village. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds and waves a blue flag. The village is full of cafes and souvenir shops.
